Vape Tax 2026: What It Means for Vape Myst Prices
Updated August 2026
Vape tax is coming on 1 October 2026
From 1 October 2026, the UK government is introducing Vaping Products Duty. The duty is charged on the amount of vaping liquid in a product at 22p per ml — that's £2.20 for every 10ml.
It applies to vaping liquid whether it contains nicotine or not, including bottled e-liquid and liquid contained in pods and cartridges.
What does that mean for Vape Myst prices?
We're not going to pretend the tax isn't significant. Instead, we want to show you the numbers clearly.
Our 10ml nic salts currently sell for £4 each. If the full £2.20 duty — plus the VAT attributable to that duty — were passed straight through to the retail price, the illustrative price would be about £6.64 per 10ml bottle.
That is an illustration of the tax impact, not an announcement of our final October price. Final Vape Myst prices will depend on the cost of duty-paid replacement stock, supplier pricing and the offers we are able to continue running.
Vape Myst 10ml price comparison
Here's what the new tax would look like if it were simply added to our current prices and multibuys.
| Vape Myst deal | Current | Tax + VAT impact | Illustrative total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 10ml | £4.00 | + £2.64 | £6.64 |
| 3 × 10ml | £10.00 | + £7.92 | £17.92 |
| 6 × 10ml | £19.00 | + £15.84 | £34.84 |
| 10 × 10ml | £30.00 | + £26.40 | £56.40 |
Illustrative figures assume the full £2.20-per-10ml duty is reflected in the selling price and standard-rate VAT is applied to the duty-inclusive value. They are not confirmed future Vape Myst prices.
Duty by liquid volume
| Liquid | Government duty | Illustrative duty + VAT retail impact |
|---|---|---|
| 2ml | £0.44 | £0.53 |
| 10ml | £2.20 | £2.64 |
| 20ml | £4.40 | £5.28 |
| 50ml | £11.00 | £13.20 |
| 100ml | £22.00 | £26.40 |
What about prefilled pod kits and refills?
The duty is charged on the vape liquid inside the product, not the battery or device hardware. Larger refill systems can therefore still see a meaningful increase because the tax is based on the total ml of liquid supplied in the pack.
| Vape Myst product | Liquid in pack | Current price | Duty + VAT impact | Illustrative price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IVG 2400 Reload 4PK | 8ml | £10.00 | + £2.11 | £12.11 |
| Hayati Pro Max+ 6K Replacement Pods | 12ml | £10.00 | + £3.17 | £13.17 |
| Lost Mary Nera 15K Refill | 12ml | £10.00 | + £3.17 | £13.17 |
| Hayati Pro Max+ 6K Kit | 12ml | £15.00 | + £3.17 | £18.17 |
If these are your regular refills, stocking up can make sense
A 12ml refill carries about £3.17 of duty + VAT impact alone if the full effect is passed through. Buying current pre-duty stock before it is replaced by duty-paid stock could therefore save several pounds per pack.
Illustrative only. These are not confirmed future Vape Myst selling prices. Figures show the effect if the full Vaping Products Duty and VAT attributable to that duty were passed straight through. Supplier pricing and other costs may also affect future prices.
A real Vape Myst example: 100ml shortfill
We currently sell selected 100ml shortfills for £12. A 100ml bottle will attract £22 of Vaping Products Duty alone. If the full duty and VAT effect were simply added to today's £12 selling price, the illustrative total would be about £38.40.
Again, that is not a confirmed future price. It shows why the new duty will have such a large effect on larger bottles.
Will every Vape Myst price change on 1 October?
Not necessarily. HMRC's transition rules allow qualifying vaping products produced or imported before 1 October 2026 to continue to be sold without a duty stamp until 31 March 2027.
That means you may see some products stay at their existing price for longer while other lines change sooner as they are replenished with new duty-paid stock. We'll keep prices as competitive as we can and make changes clearly rather than hiding them.
Frequently asked questions
When does the vape tax start?
1 October 2026.
How much is the tax?
22p for every 1ml of vaping liquid, which is £2.20 per 10ml.
Does it apply only to nicotine e-liquid?
No. The duty applies to vaping liquid whether or not it contains nicotine.
Does Vape Myst get the £2.20?
No. Vaping Products Duty is a government excise duty. The reason we're publishing this page is so customers can see the scale of the tax separately from normal product pricing.
Are the prices on this page your confirmed October prices?
No. The future-price figures above are illustrations showing what happens if today's Vape Myst price has the full duty and VAT effect added to it. We will publish confirmed prices once we know the actual cost of duty-paid replacement stock and what multibuy offers we can sustain.
